Border Ice Rink once again hosted its annual Mixed Invitation Bonspiel
23rd - 25th Nov and attracted a full house of 12 guest rinks from as far afield as Wales and Tain in the Highlands together with 4 Home Rinks. The games were played in the true spirit of curling, friendly but competitive with both sections producing some great games. Colin Macnab produced the shot of the weekend when he had to play his last stone against a stacked house of 8 played by Ross Barr from Greenacres. No problem for Colin he drew in to the pot lid to lie shot and the game. Guests enjoyed a champagne reception and splendid dinner provided by Lorne and Leigh
Brown on Saturday evening, before the final round for places on Sunday morning.
The High Road final was fiercely contested and ended in a peel with team Sandy Nelson (S Nelson, E Nelson, W Paterson, K Paterson) of Kinross edging out team Paul Jess (P Jess, H Forbes, L Massari, L McGillivray) by two ends to take the trophy. Team Farquharson from Glasgow came Third. The Low Road Final was won by our own Colin Martin chased home by Team Wilcox from Kinross and Team McKenzie all the way from Tain. Border Ice Rink would like to thank everyone for taking part in this years event and looks forward to another successful bonspiel next season.
