We hosted #CurlFest on Saturday - with the aim of introducing new faces to curling and the facility, along with raising money for Cash for Kids 1000 faces campaign.
61 people tried curling on the day, with John Stevenson’s team of coaches kept busy over the 4 sessions.
Gary James, the family magician drew a good crowd of youngsters (and adults) and he entertained everyone around the building for two hours. Graeme and Ruaraidh were on hand to do all the jobs behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly, with Graeme’s son proving to be a great magician’s assistant!
Our ladies section headed up by Elspeth Bell ran refreshments and a first class tombola, and Colin Stirling’s game of stones was another valuable source of fundraising.
The quiz evening was hosted by Radio Borders DJs Keith and Ruairidh in entertaining fashion - with Colin Martin’s team running out the winners.
A big thank you to the coaches, volunteers, spectators and the many people who contributed towards the tombola and refreshments – we couldn’t have done it without your help.
On the day we managed to rise over £500 for Cash for Kids, with all this money staying locally to help disadvantaged children. If you couldn’t attend on the day and would like to make a donation and push Border ice rink up the 1000 faces Borders leader board, please use the following link.
