of the year.

The BIRC decided to hold the competition
over three evenings and include a low road into competition. After the first game the winners went to the high
road and losers to the low road.
When the committee saw the entries grow they thought a little push would get the entry to 16 teams, and Harry phoned the successful junior team skipped by Cameron Bryce to come into the competition and within half an hour the reply was yes to make up the 16.
The two finals on the Friday night were close events until the 6th end in both cases as you can see from the cards below:

Harry thanked Cameron Bryce for standing in and praised the young team for their excellent performance in getting to the semi-finals. Harry also commented that it was good to see Colin Baxter back at the Directors, having first won the competition in the 1976/7 season and his hair still looks the same today.
Two lady directors in the form of June Swan and Margaret Roberton presented the prizes to the winners.
