The "Turkey
Shoot" is a fun game but you will be better to have some luck than curling skills.
You buy a shooter
(curling stone) in advance.
After 56 shooters
are bought the ballot is made and the first 8 shoot from the corner of the rink and attempt to get your shooter as close to
the TURKEY in the middle of the ice rink. This is a "mini-shoot". The closest to the Parsons Nose
wins a New Year bottle. All shooters are left on the ice.
This is repeated
for the next 8 players until 56 shooters (7 mini-shoots) have been played.
The last 8
shooters are sold by auction in the bar.
Then they shoot,
once again for a New Year bottle.
After all 64
shooters are on the ice the closest of all, to the Parsons Nose, wins a fantastic New Year hamper.
There will
be NO sliding delivery or sweeping.
During the
whole event you can place your bets on who will win the "Mini Shoots" and the overall shoot.
The winners
on the day were:

The overall
winners of the Grand Drinks Hamper sponsored by TAITS was shooter No 47 the winners of shoot 6. Keith had
two stones to shoot in the competition, this was his second and it landed touching the turkey and was never moved by the following
17 shooters. Well done Keith, I am sure Patty and Andrew appreciate your curling skills.
This is just
a rough guess but it looks like the total surplus for the day will be in the region of £900
A BIG thank
you to all who helped and supported the shoot.
